This article refers to the modifications brought about by the emergence of projects that promote reading, writing, and oral storytelling in the daily lives of public health institutions such as hospitals and health centers. These modifications have focused on four aspects or passages:
from the biological to the socio-historical, from the individual to the collective, from the private to the public, and from the disciplinary to the interdisciplinary. Contact with books and other reading materials improves the daily waiting and hospitalization environments, as well as the material working conditions of professionals who, positioned beyond the curative, seek to conceive new ways of thinking, inhabiting, and feeling in public health spaces.
