    Front a la doctrina recepta, no es pot mantindre que la preposició valenciana en en sentit instrumental represente l’evolució de l’antiga preposició ab (cfr. llatí apud) o, manco encara, de la moderna preposició catalana amb. Ni la cronologia dels fets ni la fonètica recolzen eixe supost procés.

    Against the received doctrine, it cannot be maintained that Valencian en ‘with’ represents the evolution of the ancient preposition ab (cfr. Latin apud) and much less of the recent Catalan preposition amb, since neither chronology nor phonetics support that hypothetical process.
