One of the aims of this Issue is to re-examine Spanish poetry studies, thanks to a special reconsideration of the first books of some authors. In the case of José-Miguel Ullán, this return is mandatory, even though the poet removed these early publications from his collected works. From this extirpation, I will try to contradict, first, the image that Ullán’s early poetry fits within the label of ‘social poetry’. Second, I will stress the links that connect it with his writing as a whole, not to demonstrate a progressive linearity in his poetics, but to emphasize its alternate currents.
