The essay adresses three issues. The culture existing in Africa when the slave trade began. The racism suffered by Black people since their arrival in Cuba and the way they have been represented in literature, reflecting the experiences of other Black populations in the Americas. Finally, the rise of African and Afro-American immigration to contemporary Spain, the autobiographical literature in Spanish by Africans and members of the Afro-descendant diaspora, which, within the framework of diverse dynamics unfolding alongside this rise, analyse institutional and global racism and proposes ways of confronting it that ultimately involve forging transcontinental alliances to demand reparations and justice.
