En aquest estudi sociolingüístic s'analitza la incidència d'un fenomen de neutralització modal, concretament el que afecta la substitució de l'imperfet de subjuntiu cantara (-se) pel potencial cantaría, i de la forma de present de subjuntiu cante pel futur d'indicatiu cantará, en diversos entorns sintàctics. L'objectiu fonamental de l'estudi consisteix a determinar aquest grau d'incidència en una de les àrees geogràfiques on el castellà conviu amb el català, com són les comunitats de parla castellonenques. L'anàlisi estadística permet demostrar, finalment, que la situació de contacte entre ambdues llengues repercuteix en els fets lingüístics tractats. Pel que fa a la utilització del futur d'indicatiu en lloc del present de subjuntiu es pot parlar d'una influència interferencial en direcció català $\rightarrow$ castellà. La substitució de l'imperfet de subjuntiu pel potencial mostra una incidència més feble encara que remarcable entre els catalanoparlants habituals, fet que reafirma la influència d'una segona llengua en la competència lingüística castellana d'aquests parlants.
In this sociolinguistic study the incidence of some cases of modal neutralization --the substitution of the subjunctive past form cantara (-se) by the conditional cantaría and the subjunctive present cante by the future simple cantará-- is analyzed in some syntactic outlines. The main objective of the research is to determine this incidence in one of the geographical areas where Spanish is in contact with Catalan, as is the case in the speech communities of Castelló (Spain). The statistical results show that the situation of languages in contact between the two languages has a positive relationship with the linguistic issues. On the one hand the use of the future simple instead of the subjunctive present form is a clear phenomenon of interference from the Catalan to the Spanish language. On the other hand, the substitution of the past subjunctive by the conditional form is objectively weak but it also shows an interferencial aspect in the Spanish competence of these speakers.
