En Dioses (1919), Pardo Bazán moderniza la leyenda de Judit y Holofernes con el propósito de resaltar el heroísmo de una mujer que se subleva a las normas de la sociedad patriarcal para convertirse en un ser autónomo. En este trabajo se analizan las transposiciones realizadas a partir del texto bíblico y se señala su itinerario intertextual a través de la identificación con el lector, el contexto socio-cultural del discurso, y las exigencias del género narrativo.
In Dioses (1919) Pardo Bazán modernizes the legend of Judith and Holofernes with the purpose of stressing the heroism of a woman who rises against the norms of a patriarchal society in order to become an autonomous being. This work analyzes the transpositions made from the biblical text and points out its intertextual itinerary through the identification of the reader, the socio-cultural context of the discourse, and the demands of the genre.
