Este artículo analiza la más reciente novela de William Ospina, Ursúa, a partir del legado invaluable de las Crónicas de Indias. Es innegable que los límites entre la realidad y la ficción empezaron a confundirse desde el mismísimo Diario de a bordo del almirante Colón. El hechizo del Nuevo Mundo encandiló por igual a los cronistas, soldados, frailes y letrados, que nunca supieron muy bien dónde empezaba o terminaba aquella exuberante realidad. La ficcionalización de la historia en Úrsua es otro aspecto que toca este trabajo, así como los vínculos evidentes de esta obra con la nueva novela histórica y el campo de la novela en Colombia y América Latina.
This article analyzes William Ospina's more recent novel starting from the important legacy of the Chronicles of India. It is undeniable that the limits between the reality and the fiction began to disappear from admiral Columbus manuscripts. The charm of the New World dazzled the columnists equally, soldiers, friars and literate who never knew very well where it began or it finished that exuberant reality. The manipulation of the history in Ursúa is another aspect that is analyzed in this essay, as well as the evident bonds of Ursúa with the new historical novel and the field of the novel in Colombia and Latin America.
