Los factores que informan la identidad son muchos y variados. Esta ponencia propone analizar la cuestión polémica de la identidad: ¿Quiénes somos? ¿Qué nos hace como somos? Éstas y otras preguntas sobre la identidad informan la poesía de la poeta trinitense, Jennifer Rahim (Trinidad, 1963). La ponencia toma unos poemas representativos de la obra de Rahim y los analiza para mostrar cómo la poeta explora la cuestión de la identidad caribeña, así como la identidad trinitense y por fin la influencia de los dos en la identidad personal de la poeta. La poesía de Rahim traza los factores geopolíticos así como históricos los cuales determinan la identidad caribeña. Concluye el ensayo al identificar y mostrar que Rahim esta a favor de una identidad pan caribeña
The factors that constitute the identity are many and varied. This report intends to analyze the polemic question of the identity: Who we are? What make us like we are? These and other questions about the identity are present in the Trinitarian poet¿s poetry, Jennifer Rahim (Trinidad, 1963). The report takes some representative poems of Rahim¿s work and analyzes them to show how the poet explores the question of the Caribbean identity, as well as the Trinitarian identity and it shows the influence of both in the poet¿s personal identity. The poetry of Rahim sketches so much the geopolitical factors as historical, which determine the Caribbean identity. It concludes the rehearsal when identifying and to show that Rahim is in favor of a panCaribbean identity
