n the Peruvian literary tradition of XIX century, romanticism was an imitative current of the European models that meant the way towards the appearance of a genuine Literature. That way the consolidation of costumbrista literature for the description of Lima was fundamental. The fusion of both currents produces the appearance of a new literary gender that reformulated them: the "Peruvian traditions" of Ricardo Palma.
