This article approaches several questions about the true origins of the City of Uviéu and, in particular, about its diocese in the early Middle Ages. The author considers these questions unavoidable as a result of two factors: the latest archeological findings and the certainly that documental records have been manipulated in later centuries on account of various reasons. The author prefers not to put forward any hypothesis as she considers it is all too soon to do it with any kind of certainty, waiting for the archeological record to illuminate some of these questions, if possible.
