Among the bibliography used in the preparation of the Diccionario diferencial del español de Aragón (DDEAR), the Atlas lingüístico y etnográfico de Aragón, Navarra y Rioja (ALEANR) has an important place. This fact leads us to return to a topic that has generated a vast bibliography, the relationship between linguistic geography and lexicography and, more specifically, the possibilities that the first of these disciplines offers to improve the content of different dictionaries. Convinced of the value of the ALEANR for our purpose, we exemplify some of the difficulties finded in the transference of data from the atlas to the dictionary, a task that is neither easy nor automatic.
