Como en otras partes de España, la frontera administrativa entre las provincias de Alicante y Murcia tampoco coincide con la frontera cultural y/o lingüística. En efecto, en El Carche (Murcia), coexisten el castellano y el catalán en situación diglósica. De ahí que nos interroguemos sobre las consecuencias lingüísticas de esta frontera administrativa. Con objeto de asegurar la continuidad del catalán en tierras murcianas, resulta pertinente analizar el papel de la escuela y su capacidad para preservar el patrimonio lingüístico.
Just like in others places of Spain, the administrative boundaries of the provinces of Alicante and Murcia do not coincide with the cultural and/or linguistic ones. In fact, in El Carche (Murcia), Spanish and Catalan coexist in a diglossic situation. For that reason, one might wonder what linguistic consequences these administrative boundaries involve. In order to ensure the continuity of Catalan in the Murcia region, it is pertinent to analyse the role of the school and its ability in the preservation of the linguistic heritage.
