En primer lugar, este estudio muestra que el prefijo catalán entre- "between" no es el núcleo sino el modificador en palabras compuestas como entreobrir (to+half+open) "to open halfway". En segundo lugar, se unifican las tres interpretaciones aparentemente diferentes del prefijo, a saber: reciprocidad, locación e valor incompleto (cf. L. GRÀCIA et al. 2000, R.-M. DÉCHAIEE & M. TREMBLAY 2006), en el marco teórico de representación de semántica léxica de R. LIEBER (2003, 2004). Finalmente, se muestra que el prefijo entre- requiere "pluralidad".
This study first shows that the Catalan prefix entre- "between" is a nonhead, i.e. a modifier, when found in compounds like entreobrir (to+half+open) "to open halfway". Secondly, a unification of the three apparent different interpretations of the prefix, namely reciprocity, location and incompletion, is provided (cf. L. Gràcia et al. 2000, R.-M. Déchaine & M. Tremblay 2006) in R. Lieber's (2003, 2004) framework of lexical semantic representation. Finally, it is claimed that entre- selects for "plurality".
