Las migraciones en la actualidad se distinguen por su carácter transnacional. Dicho transnacionalismo ha introducido cambios en la manera en que los inmigrantes se asientan en los países de acogida y también en la forma en la que a partir de ese momento negocian su identidad. Todas estas dinámicas afectan no sólo a los inmigrantes recién llegados, sino también a sus descendientes: ¿Cómo están integrando estos jóvenes el contenido de sus diversas Interacciones (con sus familias, con las sociedades de origen...) con su experiencia diaria en las sociedades receptoras? Las identidades que estos jóvenes están construyendo, ¿se caracterizan por su flexibilidad y coherencia o son, por el contrario, rígidas o excluyentes? Para dar respuesta a estas cuestiones se ha tratado de averiguar cómo están llevando a cabo el proceso de construcción identitaria los jóvenes hijos de inmigrantes que residen en Alcalá de Henares, considerando que, aunque dicho proceso no es determinante, sí resulta fundamental para conocer cómo se está produciendo la incorporación social de este segmento de población.
Nowadays migration is distinguished by its transnational character. This transnationalism has made changes to the way in which immigrants settle in the host countries and also in the way that from that moment on, negotiate their identity, All these dynamics affect not only new immigrants but also to their descendants. How are these young people integrating the content of their various interactions (with their families, their societies of origin ...) with their daily experience in the host societies? Are the identities these young people are building characterized by their flexibility and consistency, or are, by contrast, rigid or exclusive? To answer these questions we have tried to find out how young children of immigrants living in Alcalá de Henares are carrying out the process of identity construction, considering that, although the process is not decisive, it is essential to know how the social incorporation of this segment of the population is occurring.
