En este artículo se describe brevemente el reflejo de la cultura Igbo en la novela de chinua Achebe Things Fall Apart, así como en algunos ejemplos obtenidos de las dos traducciones en castellano existentes hasta mayo de 2010. En primer lugar se recordará la temática de la novela, para pasar a analizar como Achebe refleja de modo magistral la interacción entre lenguaje y cultura principalmente mediante el uso de proverbios, el uso de términos Igbo y la representación de la vida comunal antes de la llegada de los europeos
This article briefly describes the importance of Igbo culture in Chinua Achebe's novel Things Fall Apart. Examples of how Igbo culture is reflected in the two existing translations into Spanish previous to the year 2010 will be provided. First, a brief overview of the novel's plot is offered. Then, Achebe�s interaction between language and culture will be shown, focusing mainly on the use of proverbs, the inclusion of Igbo words in the novel and the representation of communal life before the arrival of Europeans
