The exercise of comparing one text to another is inherent in literary writing and reading. For a long time it was understood that comparing a text to another was the same as to evidence that the influence the first had over the second. The idea of "imitation", "dependency" or "influence" has permeated the thinking of many intellectuals who have turned to the study of comparative literature. The XX century brought with it new ways of thinking. The concepts of dialogism and intertextuality renewed studies of comparative literature and reformulated the concept of "originality." Using the theory of Hillis Miller on the relationship between texts, we have chosen few Brazilian regionalist novels to check how they fit into this concept of eternal ownership and re-creation of the world through writing and reading. Considering the novels thinking about the similarities and contrasts between them is what we propose in this paper, verifying how such relations can be analyzed by the theory of parasitism
