Education in moral values is one of the most pressing issues with which the educational sphere has to deal nowadays and this is a proposal for interdisciplinary work in the classroom. The classics of world literature have remained in mens memory through the ages because of their universal quality: because they give answer to the deepest concerns, yearnings and feelings of the human being. In literary texts, moral values are embodied by characters that can be loved or hated, thus abandoning the world of abstraction to become useful and visible. Their undeniable appeal arouses the interest of the students, enhancing their disposition to express value judgments about human eternal virtues and flaws and to make them relevant to their own lives. By framing the readings with activities leading to direct the students attention towards the moral values hidden behind some of the greatest literary myths, our aim is to generate a thinking process culminating in the acquisition of positive values for their lives.
