La dramaturgia emergente española continúa los cambios iniciados en los años ochenta. Las generaciones más jóvenes son herederas de estos planteamientos, aunque buscan su propia identidad. Sus dramaturgias se caracterizan por: un cierto eclecticismo, una compleja elaboración de sus textos, el cosmopolitismo, las abundantes referencias culturales y la preferencia por la tragedia. Su teatro es comprometido. Frecuentemente sus temas son la violencia, vista desde una perspectiva crítica. Su aportación más relevante busca la convergencia de la intimidad con lo político.
The emergent Spanish dramatics follows the changes started during the eighties. The youngest generations have inherited these approaches, although looking for their own identity. This dramatics is noted for a kind of eclecticism and a complex development of their plays, the cosmopolitanism, the abundant cultural references and the preference to tragedy. This is a committed theatre. Frequently, this theatre talks about violence from a critical point of view. Their most relevant contributions look for the convergence between the privacy and the politics.
