En el Ecuador, y específicamente en la vida política del país, el teatro ha jugado un papel más importante del que se le ha reconocido. Pensar lo estético relacionado con lo político, puede ser una interesante clave de lectura para el teatro quite- ño y, me arriesgo a afirmar, para el teatro a secas. Este análisis no se lo hará desde el teatro político, se pretende, más bien, analizar la dimensión política del mismo y de la relación entre teatro y política. Dicha dimensión política ha tomado diversas caras. Con los matices posibles, ha pasado de las salas a la calle, del costumbrismo a lo grotesco, de las compañías a los grupos.
Comprender estos matices con la óptica de lo político puede dar pistas para articular una lógica estética del teatro quiteño.
In Ecuador, especially in the country´s politics, Theatre has played a much more important role than it was thought. Thinking of aesthetics as related to politics can be an interesting key to read the theatre from Quito. This kind of analysis will not focus on political theatre but it will rather explore its political scope and the relationship they may have with politics. This political scope has various sides.
Having may possible nuances, it has gone from theatres to streets, from depicting everyday scenes to the grotesque from companies to groups. The understanding of those nuances under the viewpoint of politics may provide the audience with clues in order to articulate the draft logic behind he aesthetics of theatre from Quito.
