The article focuses on the migration experience – that is not just a physical journey, but also an inward journey – driving the fragmented individual into the life rebuilding process through the writing experience. We analyse the autobiographical novel Laila by the Afro-Spanish writer Laila Karrouch, which is significant not only for the journeys that follow one another page by page and for the characters attitude, but also because it allows the reader to think about some transformations, that is to say “journeys”, to which the paratextual elements are subjected to.
L’articolo pone l’attenzione sull’esperienza dell’emigrazione – un viaggio non solo fisico, ma anche e soprattutto interiore – che spinge l’individuo frammentato a ricomporre la propria esistenza, ricorrendo anche alla scrittura. Si propone l’analisi del romanzo autobiografico Laila della scrittrice afrospagnola Laila Karrouch, significativo non solo per i viaggi che si susseguono nel corso del testo e per le evoluzioni delle mentalità dei personaggi, ma anche perché permette di riflettere su una serie di trasformazioni, e quindi di “viaggi”, che subiscono gli elementi paratestuali.
