En la parte introductoria de este articulo elautor describe cual es la finalidad de su estudio, ademasde explicar y definir terminos relevantes de la teoria dela literatura. Uno de los destacados teoricos delnaturalismo espanol, Leopoldo Alas Clarin, escribiouna serie de ensayos y articulos donde trata el tema delnaturalismo desde varias perspectivas. Clarinrepresenta la corriente renovadora en cuanto alnaturalismo, rechazando algunos postulados originales,pero tambien cambiandolos y adaptandolos alambiente cultural y literario espanol. El tema de estearticulo se centra en la relacion entre el naturalismo, elrealismo (en sentido general) y La Regenta, como obraliteraria cuyo valor no fue apreciado correctamente porla critica hasta hace unas decadas.
In the introductory part, the author presents theobject of scientific reflection and defines relevantliterary-theoretical terms. Certainly, one of the mostimportant theorists of the Spanish naturalism,Leopoldo Alas Clarin, wrote series of essays andarticles which deal with naturalism from differentperspectives. When it comes to naturalism, Clarinrepresents the renewed current of naturalism, whichdismisses certain original assumptions but at the sametime he modifies them, adjusting them to the Spanishenvironment. This paper deals with the relationbetween realism, naturalism (in the general meaning ofthese terms) and the novel La Regenta. This novel is awork that was not adequately valued in the previousdecades.
