  This article reflects on the role of subjectivity in religious texts of Jesuit Antonio Vieira, bearing in mind the concept of subjectivity in the 17th century, as well as some remarks about the Jesuit theater. We also introduce some relations with the preaching of Vieira, and the concept of literature in the 17th Century.

  Este artigo busca refletir sobre as encenações da subjetividade na sermonística do jesuíta Antônio Vieira. Para tanto, tentaremos refletir acerca da concepção de subjetividade no século XVII, sinalizando em sua configuração as discrepâncias que apresenta com o pensamento moderno no domínio das artes - especificamente da literatura, assim como caberá tecer algumas considerações sobre o teatro jesuítico. Igualmente importante será reconstituir alguns traços da concepção de literatura que no século XVII apresenta outra configuração.
