La naturaleza del peregrinaje posee una aproximación al final; desde la óptica del individuo, es un episodio de realización espiritual que concluye con la unión de dos espacios contrapuestos: la realidad terrenal y la dimensión divina. El momento de encuentro de ambos estadios se presenta con la llegada del Apocalipsis, cuya materialización requiere un periplo de conocimiento personal estructurado a partir del andar errante y donde la superación de pruebas y obstáculos orienta al individuo hacia la resignificación de su propio ser. En Apocalipsis cum figuris, la mexicana Luisa Josefina Hernández explora distintas visiones del concepto de Apocalipsis: la estela del sistema axiológico cristiano, la simbología de la tradición islámica y el rol activo del hombre en la interpretación del concepto. La combinación que en la obra se hace de estas tres perspectivas posibilita el establecimiento de un universo ficcional dinámico, no sujeto siempre a las leyes de la lógica terrenal y susceptible a la exploración de una continua tortura: el fin de los tiempos como la única salvación posible.
The nature of the pilgrimage is close to the idea of “End”; from the individual’s point of view is an episode of spiritual fulfillment that concludes with the merge of two opposite spaces: the earthly reality and the divine dimension. The moment of collision between these two stages comes with the completion of the Apocalypse, whose materialization requires a journey of personal knowledge structured from an itinerant travel, where the overcoming of tests and obstacles orients the individual towards the significance of his own being. In Apocalipsis cum figuris, the Mexican writer Luisa Josefina Hernández explores different visions of the concept of Apocalypse from the Christian belief system, the symbology of the Islamic tradition and the active role of the individual in the interpretation of this notion. The combination of these three perspectives makes possible to establish a dynamic fictional universe, not always tied to the laws of logic and susceptible to the exploration of a continuous torture: the end of times as the only potential salvation.
