El presente artículo se propone analizar tres espacios representativos de la trilogía de Esther Tusquets — la casa, el cuerpo femenino y el mar — con el objetivo de poner de manifiesto su carácter terapéutico y, con ello, la relevancia del elemento espacial para el universo ficcional de la autora. Se trata de unos espacios íntimamente ligados a los procesos de rehabilitación interior de unos personajes en crisis, razón por la cual ostentarán no solo una dimensión física, sino también una simbólica. En virtud de todo esto, las casas, el cuerpo femenino y el mar sobrepasan la condición de meros continentes para convertirse en unos lugares terapéuticos que cumplen la función primordial de Refugio.
The present essay attempts to analyze three representative spaces from Esther Tusquets’s trilogy — the home, the female body and the sea —, aiming to emphasize their therapeutic character and, by this, the relevance of the spatial element within the fictional universe of the author. As we will point out, these spaces are in close connection with the inner rehabilitation processes of some characters in a difficult situation, which is why they have not only a physical dimension, but also a symbolic one. By virtue of this fact, the home, the female body and the sea go beyond the condition of simple continents and become therapeutic centres which fulfill the main role of a Refuge.
