Se presenta una discusión acerca del uso del video como dispositivo externo que facilita el análisis semiótico de una práctica. En el tiempo 1, el investigador translitera las imágenes en textos y su rol será el de construir datos, seleccionando parte del material disponible, para hacerlos significar. Posteriormente en el tiempo 2 realizará los procesos comprensivos que construyen, desde su particular epistemología, un efecto de realidad.
Nominará posteriormente al objeto-práctica y lo ofrecerá a la interpretación. El observador-interpretante selecciona un dato y lo transforma a través de tres competencias: la eyección hacia el futuro semántico-sintáctico; la asociación con la enciclopedia o memoria colectiva y la disposición dentro de un discursema que lo haga operativo. Como resultado del proceso de deconstrucción y construcción semántica es posible obtener propuestas de nuevas formas de comprensión e incluso innovar el sentido dado anteriormente a la práctica.
