Este artículo analiza el sentido y las implicancias del concepto de naturaleza utilizado por el ilustrado chileno Manuel de Salas en sus escritos coloniales. La investigación plantea que en ellos el autor desarrolló un argumento cuya base es una visión de la naturaleza y la sociedad humana construida a partir de la influencia combinada de naturalistas como Pluche y Buffon y reformistas cercanos a la economía política, como Jovellanos y Filangieri. Según esta relación habría una correspondencia entre el medio natural y la sociedad humana, caracterizadas por la comunicación y el movimiento.
This article analyzes the meaning and implications of the concept of Nature as conceptualized by the Chilean Enlightenment thinker, Manuel de Salas, in his colonial writings. The research suggests that the author developed an argument, the basis of which is a vision of nature and human society built on the combined influence of naturalists such as Pluche and Buffon, and reformers who studied political economy, such as Jovellanos and Filangieri.
According to this idea, there exists a relationship between the natural world and human society, characterized by communication and movement between the two.
