it affected several languages, societies, and states;
it prompted numerous translations and rewritings;
it left a deep artistic impact, and it produced some of the most important elaborations a bout the work itself and the very nature of storytelling. Nevertheless, this process has not been studied with the detail and extension it deserves yet.
