La novela "El mar que nos trajo" de Griselda Gambaro (2001) es un tributo as us orígenes italianos y al rol de la migración en la conformación del estado argentino. La autora describe el hecho migratorio subrayando la importancia del legado de las diferentes culturas que, a lo largo del siglo XX, confluyeron en el territorio argentino. La importancia del tema de la herencia y de la transmisión se refleja en la misma arquitectura narrativa y en la construcción de los personajes. El presente trabajo se propone analizar el «giro transgeneracional» que rige el entramado textual destacando la peculiar relación entre el protagonista, Agostino, y su hija Natalia. La muerte del padre y la transmisión de su secreto al hijo mediante un objeto-simulacro, la fotografía de la hermana desconocida, crea las condiciones para reanudar los lazos familiares y edificar una memoria compartida y transnacional.
The novel El mar que nos trajo by Griselda Gambaro (2001) is a tribute to her Italian origins and the role of migration in the development of Argentina. The author describes migration underlining the important legacy of the different cultures merging into one global identity within the XX century. The main aim of this work is to analyze the ‘transgenerational turn’ that characterizes the plot of this novel pointing out the relation between the main protagonist and his daughter Natalia. Agostino’s death and the transmission of his secret through an object-simulacrum, the photographyto his son, lays the conditions for reforging links with his ancestral homeland and for constructing shared and transnational memories.
