Este artículo estudia la técnica de adaptación del Quijote en la pieza En un lugar de Manhattan, su experimentalismo, la forma de aprovechar sus temas, personajes, estructura, la intertextualidad con el original y la técnica de dramatización del texto narrativo. Els Joglars han producido piezas de gran éxito, protagonizando la renovación de la escena española desde finales de los 60. El grupo establece una estrecha relación con autores y obras del pasado, fuente de sus reescrituras: los Entremeses cervantinos han inspirado El retablo de las maravillas. Cinco variaciones sobre un tema de Cervantes (2004), el Quijote la adaptación En un lugar de Manhattan (2005) y la novela ejemplar El coloquio de los perros la pieza teatral homónima (2013).
This article focuses on the adaptation technique of Don Quijote in the play En un lugar de Manhattan, its experimentalism, the way to reinterpret its topics, characters, structure, the intertextuality with the original, as well as the dramatization technique of the narrative text. Els Joglars have produced very successful plays, fostering the innovation of the Spanish drama from the end of the 60s. The group establishes a strong relationship with past authors and works, which are the sources of their adaptations: Cervantes’ Entremeses inspired El retablo de las maravillas. Cinco variaciones sobre un tema de Cervantes (2004), Don Quijote the play En un lugar de Manhattan (2005), and the novela ejemplar El coloquio de los perros the dramatic work with the same title (2013).
