Juan Manuel Díaz de Guereñu Ruiz de Azúa
Gerardo Diego y Juan Larrea, entonces recién licenciados en Letras por la Universidad de Deusto, iniciaron en octubre de 1916 una correspondencia que siguió hasta la muerte de Larrea en 1980 y que, por sus dimensiones y contenidos, constituye un documento esencial para el estudio de sus obras respectivas. Las cartas que intercambiaron los dos amigos en el año 1917 muestran el calor de su amistad y despliegan las inquietudes literarias y artísticas que ambos jóvenes compartieron en aquellos primeros pasos de su aprendizaje de la poesía.
Gerardo Diego and Juan Larrea had just obtained their degrees in Liberal Arts by the University of Deusto when they started sending letters to each other until Larrea died in 1980. Because of its size and content, this correspondence is an essential document in order to study their respective works. Those letters that both friends wrote to each other in 1917 show us the warmth of their friendship and they also display the literary and artistic curiosity that those guys shared when they started learning poetry.
