El escritor y pedagogo portugués João de Barros escribió siete versiones adaptadas de otros tantos textos de la literatura universal. En este artículo s e analizan los prefacios de sus adaptaciones de los tres poemas épicos grecolatinos por antonomasia. Cada uno subraya un aspecto en torno al que se justifica la elección del texto y su papel educador: la inmortalidad, la religión y la ética individual, depositados en Ulises, Eneas y Aquiles, respectivamente.
The Portuguese writer and pedagogue João de Barros wrote seven versions adapted from so many texts of universal literature. This paper analyzes the prefaces of his adaptations of the three Greco-Roman epic poems by antonomasia. Each preface emphasizes three different aspects around which the choice of the text and its educating role are justified: immortality, religion and individual ethics, deposited respectively In Ulysses, Aeneas, and Achilles.
