Desde 1934, un tanto tendenciosamente, se trató de confundir las advocaciones de dos imágenes marianas del siglo XIII: Santa María del Puerto y Santa María de Sidueña, a las que se añadió la inexistente de Santa María de España. En este ensayo se ha tratado de aclarar las advocaciones de esas dos imágenes y su identidad con documentos recientemente hallados
Since 1934, there has been confusion surrounding the devotion to two images of Our Lady, both dating from the 13th century and both closely linked to the person of Alfonso X the Wise and to the city of El Puerto de Santa María. These images are Santa María del Puerto and Santa María de Sidueña, to wich a third nonexistent image was added, Santa María de España.
