Esta investigación profundiza en las menciones realizadas por cronistas españoles, en su mayoría, de los siglos xvi y xvii, sobre los viajes que se realizaron desde de la península Ibérica antes de 1492 con destino al continente americano. En la mayor parte de los casos, se hace referencia a naves cartaginesas, aunque también aparecen menciones de otros pueblos de la Antigüedad con gran experiencia marítima.
This research will focus on the mentions made by Spanish chroniclers, mostly from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, on the voyages that were made from the Iberian peninsula before 1492 to the American continent. In most cases, reference is made to Carthaginian ships, although there are also mentions of other civilizations of antiquity with great maritime experience.
