La emigración hispana al Nuevo Mundo y sus consecuencias lingüísticas y no lingüísticas han sido fenómenos ya largamente investigados. En mi trabajo no atiendo específicamente a éstos, sino a otro hecho paralelo, mas de sentido inverso. Me refiero al regreso de emigrantes indianos a la Península, tema éste que, si bien mucho menos explorado, constituye la clave para la interpretación histórico-lingüística de no pocos nombres de persona y de lugares de nuestro país
The Spanish emigration to the New World and its linguistic as well as non linguistic consequences has been a phenomenon largely investigated. Though, in my study I examine a fact that is parallel, but in a contrary sense: the return of the American emigrants to Spain, a fact scarcely investigated by now which constitues the clue to historical and linguistic interpretation of many Spanish personal and place names
