El propósito de este trabajo es analizar la doctrina de Ortega y Gasset acerca de la traducción. Se examina aquí, en particular, su singular opinión acerca de cómo debe ser una buena traducción. Tras este examen, se concluye que el tipo de traducción que Ortega propone no es sino el remate natural de su concepción de la lengua como visión de mundo, concepción que remonta fundamentalmente hasta la figura de Wilhelm von Humboldt, que fue el primero en destacar la profunda relación que existe entre el lenguaje, de una parte, y el pensamiento y la cultura, de la otra
The aim of this work is to analyze Ortega y Gasset’s doctrine about translation.
Special consideration is given here to his idea of what a good translation must be. Following this analysis, we conclude that the kind of translation proposed by Ortega y Gasset responds to his conception of language as a reflection of one’s worldwiew, a notion that goes back to Wilhelm von Humboldt, the first philosopher to point out the relationship existing between language, on the one hand, and thought and culture, on the other
