Si en 1619 Felipe III y su heredero fueron agasajados con deslumbrantes festejos en Lisboa y Jacinto Cordeiro escribió La entrada del Rey en Portugal (1621), muy distinta será la visión del reinado de Felipe IV ofrecida por Manuel Araújo de Castro en La mayor hazaña de Portugal (1645) o Manuel de Almeida Pinto en Feliz restauración de Portugal y muerte del Secretario Miguel de Vasconcelos (1649) tras la Restauração portuguesa, que dio comienzo el 1 de diciembre de 1640 y supondría la ruptura defi nitiva de la unión ibérica
