Dentro de la literatura popular, la lírica ha tenido, entre muchas otras, la función de ser un medio de transmisión de las noticias y pareceres sobre las acciones de los gobernantes o de las personas en el poder. Esta tradición, que puede remontarse a la Edad Media, tomó cuerpo en las composiciones en verso que aparecieron en las hojas volantes que imprimió Antonio Vanegas Arroyo en los albores del siglo XX mexicano. Estos textos líricos tienen temas diversos y ocupan diferentes funciones dentro de lo que puede llamarse “la poética de la hoja volante”. En esta ponencia, trabajaremos con los breves textos líricos que aparecen en algunas hojas volantes correspondientes al momento posterior al levantamiento armado que dio inicio a la Revolución. Mediante su análisis, intentaremos aproximarnos a los tópicos y formas poéticas que fueron usadas para hablar de los acontecimientos y personajes políticos en un contexto revolucionario y cómo esto fue conformando el imaginario político popular de México.
Within popular literature, poetry has fulfilled —among many others— the function of communicating news and assessments of the actions of rulers or the powers-that-be. This tradition, which stems from the middle Ages, was fully developed through the verse compositions disseminated by the broadsheet printed by Antonio Vanegas Arroyo in the Mexican early 20th century. These texts address a diversity of topics and fulfill various different functions within what we may call the ‘poetics of news-sheets’. In this paper I shall examine the short poetic texts in some broadsheet appearing right after the armed uprising which led to the Revolution. Through their study, I shall approach the topics and poetic forms employed to deal with events and political personalities in a revolutionary context. Also, I shall analyze how this conformed the Mexican popular political mindset.
