El pes econòmic, polític, cultural i demogràfic de Barcelona, en territori del bloc oriental, contribueix al fet que es vincule el català central amb l’única varietat apta per a tots els registres, amb l’estàndard, i que es relegue l’occidental a un dialecte limitat a usos informals. Consegüentment, les poques ocasions que podem sentir els dialectes occidentals en un registre formal i per televisió —recordem que la presència de veus occidentals en sèries i pel·lícules és baixao inexistent— és a través dels corresponsals situats a l’àrea occidental i dels periodistes que, des de la zona central, informen sobre notícies d’àmbit més general. Per tant, el fet que hi haja, d’una banda, des dels inicis de TV3, poques veus occidentals i, de l’altra, que el model planificat occidental no s’haja estès entre els ensenyants, té com a conseqüència que, a hores d’ara, l’estàndard oral difós per periodistes d’aquella zona dialectal tinga trets fonètics i morfològics orientals. En el següent article abordem aquesta qüestió amb l’estudi del model de llengua de sis periodistes occidentals que participen en els Telenotícies de TV3.
The economic, political, cultural and demographic influence of Barcelona on the other Catalan regions contributes to the confusion between Central Catalan —the dialect spoken in Barcelona and its region— and the standard model for the media. Consequently, the Western Catalan standard model is relegated to informal usage. Keeping in mind that the presence of Western voices in TV series and movies is nearly inexistent, the few times this variety of Catalan appears as a formal model in the media is through correspondents reporting from Western regions and journalists native to the area but based in Barcelona. Therefore, given that since TV3 was founded, Eastern voices have been a majority throughout its broadcasting history, coupled with the fact that the educational system does not teach Western standard forms, the oral standard spoken by reporters from the Western regions exhibits Eastern phonetic and morphological features. The main objective of this article is to analyze the linguistic model of six Western Catalan journalists that work in the TV3 news broadcast, Telenotícies.
