Due to the fact that Alfonso Paso was the most prolific Spanish playwright in the Franco years, it is obvious that he was the author most revised by the Spanish censors. This article deals with the twelve comedies that he never was able to perform due to the censors’ prohibition, or due to economic and theatral causes. Furthermore it describes the tense relations that the author had with the Spanish censors. Contrary to what people used to think, Alfonso Paso was never a comfortable author for the censors: a lot of corrections, several versions and even forbidden comedies are sufficent proof to show a different image of him, who was the most popular playwright in the Franco years.
