This paper is an approach to the similarities found in Miguel de Unamuno and Jorge Luis Borges’ life and work. Three common motifs from the Spanish and from the Argentinian writers are analysed. These are the dualism, the being’s pluralism and the pursuit of the origin. The core idea is to verify that similar themes and ideas stand out and are shared by both writers, despite the differences between them. Some coincidences in their private life are used as a keystone to deepen in their narrative works, both based on dual concepts. At a later stage, what is analysed is the way their characters are reflected in others, to finally meet with the death, all this linked with a quest of a last cause that justifies it. Therefore, we can see why these two writers are stablished as two classical writers from Spanish-speaking literature
