Se analizan en este artículo dos versiones del famoso episodio del gobierno de Sancho Panza en la Ínsula Barataria. A partir del guion cinematográfico que elaboró Blasco Ibáñez y de la breve farsa teatral de Casona, se advierte cómo la aventura cervantina pudo ser leída como argumento humorístico, pero también como expresión de la sabiduría popular. Asimismo, la elección del asunto por dos escritores de prestigio informa de la larga pervivencia del Quijote en la memoria colectiva.
In this paper are analysed two versions of the famous episode of Sancho Panza´s government on Barataria Island. From the screenplay written by Blasco Ibáñez and the Casona´s brief theatrical farse, we are shown how cervantine adventure could be read as an humoristic topic, but also as an expression of popular wisdom. Also, the choice of the argument by two prestigious writers informs us of the long survival of don Quixote in the collective memory.
