• Resumen

  • The article examines the criticisms aimed at the concept of iconism and motivation. While explaining the conditions that keep them as valid in a semiotic theory, it proposes a solution—suggested by a cognitive perspective—that solves the main problems faced by visual semiotics. It integrates the specificity of the visual iconic type in the signification process.
