En este trabajo me propongo investigar las representaciones de la globalización en la literatura centroamericana contemporánea, a partir de una premisa (no un axioma): la globalización es un proceso desigual. Analizo esta desigualdad a partir del espacio, preguntándome si la globalización determina nuevas conceptualizaciones de los espacios y de las fronteras, si crea nuevos imaginarios que también se configuran en la literatura centroamericana. Encuentro en la contraposición entre el movimiento y la detención, en su sentido tanto literal como metafórico, una posible respuesta. He concebido las categorías de ‘espacio fluido’ y ‘espacio detenido’ para analizar los cuentos de Mauricio Orellana, Carlos Cortés, Claudia Hernández y Alejandro Córdova.
The aim of this work is to explore the representation of globalization in contemporary Central American literature. Starting from the premise (and not the axiom), that globalization is an unequal process, I will analyze such inequality by focusing on literary spaces and asking the following questions: does globalization determine new ways of thinking spaces and borders? Does it create new imaginaries, which are reflected in Central American literature? My contention is that the contrast between movement and ‘arrest’, both in its literal and metaphorical meaning, can offer possible answers. In order to analyze the short stories of Mauricio Orellana Suarez, Carlos Cortés, Claudia Hernández and Alejandro Córdova, I have created and will be using the categories of ‘fluid space’ and ‘arrested space’.
