El presente trabajo se centra en examinar la adquisición de la selección modal –la distinción entre indicativo / subjuntivo en español– por parte de los estudiantes chinos de nivel intermedio-avanzado. Para eso se ha llevado a cabo un cuestionario entre un total de ochenta estudiantes chinos de la carrera de Filología Española para conocer su dominio de los múltiples usos del indicativo y del subjuntivo. Los resultados del análisis cuantitativo muestran que los contextos de alternancia modal son más problemáticos para nuestros encuestados, y el indicativo les causa la misma dificultad que el subjuntivo, lo cual va contra lo que podría esperarse, ya que se suele considerar que el subjuntivo es mucho más complejo y difícil de dominar por los estudiantes extranjeros. Además, el hecho de que los encuestados del tercer año y cuarto año no muestren una diferencia considerable en la selección modal indica que tras recibir los contenidos básicos y avanzados del modo verbal, un mayor conocimiento de la lengua española no les ayuda en el avance de la comprensión y el dominio de este.
The present study focuses on the acquisition of mood selection –the indicative / subjunctive distinction in Spanish– by Chinese learners of intermediate-advanced level of proficiency. To achieve this objective, we designed a questionnaire that has been carried out among a total of eighty Chinese students of the Spanish Philology degree. This helps us to know their knowledge on the multiple uses of the indicative and the subjunctive. The results of the quantitative analysis show that the context of mood alternation is a bigger challenge than expected for the students. Participants find the indicative just as hard as the subjunctive, which is surprising due to that the subjunctive is usually considered to be much more complex and difficult to acquire by foreign learners. In addition, we don´t find considerable differences between the third and fourth year participants on the mood selection, which indicates that after learning the basic and advanced contents of Spanish mood, the knowledge acquired does not help them to understand and use the moods correctly.
