Este artículo describe un perfil del viajero literario en el Pirineo, con el fin de aportar un análisis que contribuya a un mejor conocimiento del público-lector de estas prácticas, vinculadas tanto a la promoción de la lectura, como a las ofertas de turismo cultural de un territorio. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio de caso consistente en la observación participante en tres rutas literarias pirenaicas, en las que se ha distribuido un cuestionario a las personas asistentes. Los datos obtenidos en este trabajo de campo se han contrastado con otras fuentes, para llegar a una reflexión crítica sobre los resultados. El estudio de un perfil del turista literario en España es prácticamente inexistente, porque todavía este es minoritario y las instituciones que amparan las propuestas no suelen recabar datos sobre los usuarios que responden a este tipo de iniciativas. La observación de las rutas identificadas y descritas en el Pirineo lleva a la conclusión de que las iniciativas más sostenibles en el tiempo son aquellas que generan actividad cultural en torno a ellas y crean comunidad lectora.
