Este trabajo describe brevemente el panorama del teatro en Europa y en España a comienzo del siglo XX, período en que se inscribe la producción dramática de Pérez Galdós. A continuación estudia las posiciones teóricas del autor acerca del teatro, tal como se ofrecen en el prólogo que puso a la edición de "Alma y vida" y, por último, se analizan los diferentes aspectos del drama: el asunto, la configuración de los personajes, el tiempo y el espacio escénicos, así como las peculiaridades del lenguaje empleado en el texto.
In this paper is briefly described the panorama of the theatre in Europe and in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century: time in which is registred Pérez Galdós 'dramatic production. Next is studied the author's theoretícal positions about the theatre, just as in appointed in the foreword that he put to Alma y vida i edition. Finally, the different aspects of the drama are analyzed; the matter, the configuration of the characters, the scenic time and space, as well as the peculiarities of the language usad in the text.
