Recientemente ha sido localizado en el Archivo HistóricoProvincial de Córdoba el testamento de Juan de Ochoa Méndez, uno de los maestros canteros cordobeses más relevantes de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI, autor de obras como la portada del Palacio de Viana, la capilla mayor del ex convento de Santa Isabel de los Ángeles y las bóvedas del crucero y coro de la catedral cordobesa. El documento aporta nuevos datos sobre su vida, familia, propiedades, sus relaciones con otros canteros de la época y trayectoria profesional durante el último decenio anterior a su muerte.
The testament of Juan de Ochoa Mendez, one of the most important stonemasons of the second half of the 16th Century, has recently been located in the Provincial Historical Archive of Córdoba.
He is author of projects such as the cover of the current palace of Viana, the main chapel of Santa Isabel de los Angeles´s former convent, or the vaults of the transept and choir of the Cathedral. The document provides new information about his life, family, property, his relationships with others stonecutters of the time and professional career during the last decade before his death.
