Resumen de Las reelaboraciones en el siglo XX de las novelas de Manuel Fernández y González: un autor a través de distintos modelos de negocio editorial

  Manuel Fernández y González fue el novelista español más prolífico y vendido del siglo XIX. Autor de casi doscientos títulos conocidos, el auge de la novela por entregas como negocio editorial le permitió gozar de un éxito sin precedentes en la literatura española, si bien en buena medida este formato condicionó por completo sus textos y lastró la calidad literaria de su producción; sus obras muchas veces tuvieron que alargarse excesivamente para contentar las demandas del público y poder resultar más rentables. Un siglo después, en el XX, Fernández y González siguió reeditándose, pero el modelo de la novela por entregas ya no existía; las casas editoriales que quisieron publicar de nuevo sus obras tuvieron que enfrentarse al problema de lo muy condicionados que estaban esos textos por la antigua industria de la entrega. A fin de adaptar esas obras al mercado del momento, los encargados de esas publicaciones tuvieron que acabar modificando sustancialmente el texto original, abreviando por distintas vías lo que originalmente era muy extenso; los cambios introducidos son tantos y tan significativos que nos permitirían hablar de cocreación y reelaboración en torno a un original.

  Manuel Fernández y González was the most prolific and sell novelist of the 19th century. Author of almost two-hundred known titles, the rise of the novel by parts as an editorial business allows him to enjoy a success without precedents in the Spanish literature, even if in good measure that format conditioned entirely his texts and ballasted the literary quality of his production; many times his works had to lengthen excessively to content the demands of the public and to be more profitable. A century later, in the 20th, Fernández y González continued to be reissued, but the model of the novel by parts no longer existed; the publishing houses who wanted to publish his works again had to face the problem about that texts conditioned by the old industry of the novel by parts. In order to adapt that works to the market of these moment, the managers of that publishes had to change substantially the original text, abbreviating, by different ways, what originally was so much large; the changes introduced are so many and so significant that it allows us to speak about co-creation and reworking around an original text.
