Greco-Latin epics constitute the pillar of Western culture. Like so many literary works, they have been translated into cinematographic language. A review of the films that have dealt with the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Argonautics and the Aeneid since the second half of the 20th century allows us to assess the degree of fidelity to the original texts, not only regarding the plot, but also in terms of significance and meaning. To do so, I will first introduce each of the epic narratives before drawing a parallel between the plots of the source texts and those of the related movies, as well as the effect produced on the readers or the viewers.
