Conceptos de amor de Dios was a book first published in 1611, in the middle of the process of Teresa of Jesus’ beatification by a close confessor: Jeronimo Gracian of the Mother of God. This former Carmelite printed it outside of Spain with the aim of unveiling the nun’s commentary and interpretation on Song of Songs, which unfortunately were not fully preserved. At the same time, the friar would defend the nun’s right to put in writing God’s revelations given to her, and, even, not to disobey the Holly Master who allowed it for the benefit of souls. For this purpose, the religious used the demonstrative genre, focused in mystical allegory, fully cultivated in the Baroque.
